Dave DeVenzio - Director
Dave's entire life has revolved around guiding young athletes. For the past 31 years, that has included his instructing them at basketball camp. After breaking his high school's scoring record, Dave received a full scholarship to Kent State University where he played point guard and earned a B.A. in municipal recreation. He continued his education at Miami University of Ohio, receiving a master's degree in health and physical education management.

He has coached school basketball since 1981 and, from 1970 through 2000, assisted his brother, Dick, at their various summer camps. In 2001, following Dick's death, Dave directed the Point Guard Basketball College. In addition, for 18 years, Dave served as manager of basketball operations for the Prep Stars Invitational Basketball Camp. Dave was recently asked and accepted the challenge of starting a women's basketball program at a junior college in Pittsburgh. He now also serves as Head Coach.

Dave has written articles for sports publications, including two ("Motivating the Bench Warmers" and "Conditioning your Basketball Team") published in Coach Magazine. Dave currently has two books in print: Best Advice You Can Get for Basketball Players and Best Advice You Can Get for Basketball Coaches.

Dave has a very personal motivation for making the NPGC a success. "I was very lucky to have a brother like Dick. I remember when he started teaching me things in the fourth grade. Many times back then I did not care to hear his instruction, but I always realized what a tremendous focus he had. Growing up he taught me about basketball. As we got older, he taught me about life. At the end, he taught me about death. What more could I ask of a brother who also happened to be my best friend? One of my goals in life is to keep his legacy alive. It seems like the least I can do."

Dave heads a family of his own. His wife, Amy, also has coached basketball, so you can see what may be in the future for their daughters, Lora and Rebecca.
